Human resources and hospitality have a lot in common. Both are centered on helping people feel welcome, valued, and comfortable. With extensive experience in the fast-paced New York City and luxurious Hamptons hospitality scenes, Roberto Romero brings this unique and uplifting perspective to his role as HR Business Partner at Mini-Circuits.
“I’ve always viewed employees as internal guests,” Roberto said. “They deserve the same respect and attention as any paying guest in a hotel or restaurant. Every company is a hospitality company in that way.”
Prior to joining Mini-Circuits in June 2024, Roberto was Director of People & Culture at the Montauk Yacht Club. Before that, he held HR roles at World Spa NY, Gurney’s Resorts, Joe & the Juice, and Tacombi. “Hospitality taught me how important it is to truly connect with people,” he said. “When I saw the opportunity at Mini-Circuits, I had a good feeling about the company—and it turned out to be a perfect fit.”
Roberto’s role at Mini-Circuits focuses on benefits administration and support across our U.S. offices and facilities. He is a key liaison between managers and members, helping create an environment where everyone can feel and perform their best at work.
Having spent most of his career in hospitality, Roberto finds the transition into the manufacturing industry to be fascinating and inspiring. He has attended demonstrations, seen how products are tested, and even sat in on technical talks, all in an effort to deepen his understanding of what makes Mini-Circuits an industry leader and how our products power the world around us. “It’s extremely interesting to see what happens behind the scenes and how the products apply in various industries,” he said. “The work is so technical, but at the end of the day, it still comes down to people working together.”

What has impressed Roberto the most at Mini-Circuits thus far is the culture, especially the company’s diversity. For Roberto, diversity goes hand in hand with the platinum rule that he learned in hospitality. While the golden rule says to treat others how you want to be treated, the platinum rule emphasizes treating people how they want to be treated—recognizing and respecting individual differences to ensure everyone feels valued in a way that’s meaningful to them.
“We do a beautiful job of fostering an open and respectful environment,” Roberto said. “Diversity isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we truly have and embrace every day.”
Roberto also appreciates the work-life balance that Mini-Circuits provides. He’s a foodie who loves trying new restaurants in the city, but equally enjoys relaxing at home in Long Island with his husband and their dogs. Balance helps him feel energized both at work and in life.
Looking ahead, Roberto is excited about building long-term relationships at Mini-Circuits and making a lasting impact. “The longer you’re with a company, the more you can help shape its culture,” he said. “I’m looking forward to contributing in every way possible.”
