Mini-Circuits is proud to announce a significant enhancement to our production process with the launch of a new Surface Mount (SMT) department at our Florida facility. The launch is not just a milestone for us but also a reminder of our commitment to providing our customers with a streamlined experience across the board.
Led by Pick and Place Team Leader John Rendon, the SMT department represents the latest step in the continued growth of Mini-Circuits Florida, a legacy assembly location playing a larger role in enabling operational excellence with each phase of its expansion. Over the last few years, Mini-Circuits Florida has added a testing department, an incoming and final inspection department, and now an SMT department. The SMT space was previously a cafeteria. In little time, walls were brought up, electricity was turned on, ESD flooring was installed, and the equipment was connected.
From the initial receipt of materials to the final stages of production, every process that takes place at the Florida facility has been meticulously optimized. Equipped with the latest technology, including a screen printer, two mounters, a reflow oven, an X-ray machine, a pink oven, and a dicing machine for PCB singulation, the SMT department helps ensure precision, efficiency, and the highest quality in every unit produced, all in one facility.
Mini-Circuits Florida has long served as a strategic location providing fast production and short delivery times for customers. That stability, paired with a high mix, low volume strategy supporting a wide range of Mini-Circuits’ vast catalog, has led to new opportunities in the 45,000-square-foot facility.
The addition of the SMT department in Florida reduces logistical costs, facilitates workflow, and creates a more efficient process overall. The department commenced with qualification runs before receiving rigorous internal quality assurance testing and final approval to proceed with customer-facing pick-and-place functions.
Hialeah, where Mini-Circuits Florida is located, is a vibrant community embracing economic development. Manufacturers like Mini-Circuits are evolving the city into a noteworthy industrial hub. Mini-Circuits’ Florida office has been operating in its same location off of State Road 826 since 1978. Many members there have been with the company for decades. Members in Florida stay connected to our Brooklyn, New York headquarters with monthly town hall meetings on site in Hialeah.
