On March 3, 2024 our team at Urjita in Chennai, India participated in the annual MEPZ Run located in the MEPZ (Madras Export Processing Zone) Special Economic Zone. The event uses the funds it accumulates from the race participants to promote planting trees and gardens in the MEPZ area to keep natural life abundant and healthy. The race is broken down into three categories (5K, 10K, and 21.1K) to accommodate a multitude of people and their fitness levels.

Urjita has sponsored the event and encouraged their members and their immediate families to go out and participate in the MEPZ Run and help promote the good cause. In total, 417 members from Urjita participated!

When asked about the high turnout rate at the run, Gayathri Jayachandran (Human Resources) said, “It’s fun! Members get together outside of work to enjoy quality time with each other, and they get to meet their coworkers’ family members as well.”

Many members expressed that they felt refreshed after participating in the run, but they also had a lot of fun. After the race, a DJ played music and many participants stayed to dance, take photos and eat together. While keeping their bodies healthy, Urjita members were also promoting environmental health by participating in the MEPZ run. Congratulations to all who ran for the cause!
