Nestled between Sonoma County’s sprawling vineyards and rolling hills, with the cooling, calming influence of Northern California’s coast, Mini-Circuits’ Santa Rosa MMIC Design Center is a unique hub for cable technology. As an engineering project manager in Santa Rosa, Brandon Barron coordinates the development of critical components that keep cable networks running smoothly, from amplifiers to essential infrastructure for news, entertainment, and everyday connectivity.

Joining Mini-Circuits in September 2024, Brandon brought with him a background in electromechanical engineering, though RF technology was new ground. His career had taken him across multiple industries, each experience building his technical skills. Yet, stepping into the fast-paced world of cable technology at Mini-Circuits required him to learn and adapt quickly. “Every day is an opportunity to expand on what I know,” he said, “and each project brings something different, especially when it comes to understanding the cable industry’s unique needs.”

Brandon Barron, Engineering Project Manager II – MMIC

Brandon works with Mini-Circuits’ engineering, product, and supply chain teams to bring products from initial design to launch, making sure every component meets rigorous quality and performance standards. For Brandon, seeing a product go from concept to completion is like assembling an intricate puzzle—each piece clicking into place to reveal the big picture.

Prior to joining Mini-Circuits, Brandon’s journey had prepared him for the demands of project management in high-tech fields. After earning his electrical engineering degree from Sonoma State University in 2019, he started his career in semiconductor manufacturing, installing and maintaining advanced equipment across the country. He then transitioned to the defense sector, where he worked on surveillance technology projects for non-offensive military use. He has always found fulfillment in contributing to projects with a tangible impact. At Mini-Circuits, he feels that same sense of purpose. “It’s rewarding to know our components help keep people connected, informed, and entertained,” he said.

The Santa Rosa MMIC Design Center brings its own character to Brandon’s experience at Mini-Circuits. Located in the heart of wine country, the setting combines natural beauty with a close-knit team atmosphere. Weekly Friday wine tastings have become a tradition, allowing team members to connect and enjoy the local culture. Work-life balance helps create camaraderie and an environment that’s as engaging as the technology the team is developing.

Outside of work, Brandon takes full advantage of the Sonoma County lifestyle. He enjoys golfing on the area’s scenic courses, appreciating both the challenge and the stunning views. Wine tasting has naturally become another favorite pastime, and with a wedding on the horizon in May 2025, he and his fiancée are enjoying every moment of planning and picturing their big day.

Looking ahead, Brandon is excited to expand his knowledge of RF technology and explore the wide range of industries Mini-Circuits supports, from cable to defense and beyond. Working alongside teams in New York and Malaysia has already broadened his perspective on the company’s global impact, and he’s inspired by the path ahead. “There’s so much more to uncover in this field,” he said. “I’m looking forward to growing in my role and contributing to Mini-Circuits’ mission to connect people and technology in meaningful ways.”
